AJGA Performance Based Entry Process.The Optimist International Junior Golf Championships provide a unique opportunity for junior golfers from around the globe. In more than 50 qualifying tournaments, Optimists reach out into their own communities to involve children in the game of golf. Each year 5,000 junior golfers, ages 10-18, participate in Optimist sponsored events.The top 600 junior golfers advance to the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships each summer.

Age Eligibility: Girls 10-12 not 13 on or before 7/22/17, Boys 10-11 not 12 on or before 7/22/17, Boys 12-13 not 14 on or before 7/22/17, Girls 13-14 not 15 on or before 7/27/17, Boys 14-15 not 16 on or before 7/27/17, Girls 15-18 not 19 on or before 8/2/17, Boys 16-18 not 19 on or before 8/2/17.

Optimist International Junior Golf Championships 7/18 – 8/2, 2017
PGA National Resort & Spa, cur- rent host site of the PGA Tour’s Honda Classic, has been home to the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships since 1996. PGA offers four Championship Golf Courses – the Champion, Fazio, Palmer and Squire Courses. The tournament is a unique golfing experience where junior golfers and their families enjoy golf, off-course activities and housing all under one roof.

Entry Fee: $150. Make check payable to South Carolina Optimist District (do not send cash).
Qualifying information: This is a 2 day tournament, “available for ranking”. Two golfers in each age division, with the exception Boys 16-18 (1 position open) will advance to the International Tournament provided they shoot the minimum qualifying score. A maximum of one golfer from outside the District is permitted to qualify per Division. If a golfer who lives outside the District qualifies, her/his participation will not eliminate a District resident from qualifying. Optimist Districts provide financial support for winners to attend the International Championships. The amount of financial support varies by District. There is no guarantee financial support will be provided to golfers who travel outside their District.
